Public Relations Officer

JOB TITLE: Public Relations Officer
Reporting to: CEO and Group ESG
LOCATION: Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
ABOUT CLIENT: The Future Edge is a global consulting and business support solution company. We are seeking a ‘Public Relations Officer’ for our client; an agro-industrial company in Nigeria.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead the department team and maintain productive working relationships and team spirit within the department and with other departments.
· Develop innovations, improvements, objectives and plans for the company.
· Ensure that the department is efficiently manned and supervised to ensure maximum productivity and the cost-effective completion of work programmes.
· Assist in the maintenance of cordial community relations through close liaison with community leaders, schools and state and federal government departments.
· Execute the company’s public relations programme, to include advertising and events that have been agreed in the annual operating budget.
· Prepare Siat News for publication as agreed with the Management.
· Execute the department’s training programme to ensure that work is carried out effectively and efficiently.
· Report routinely to the Chief Executive Officer on departmental, community and legal matters.
· Liaise with external bodies to ensure the smooth running of the company and to ensure that the company is up-to-date with changes in the external operating environment.
· And any other task as deem fit by the Chief Executive Officer.
QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENT/EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in public relations or a related field.
· Minimum of 8 years’ proven work experience as a PRO
· NIPR is an added advantage.
· Experience handling crisis communication and managing public relations during emergencies or security incidents.
· Exceptional skills in both verbal and written communication, including the ability to draft clear, concise, and persuasive press releases, reports, and other materials.
· Strong problem-solving skills to address public relations challenges effectively and innovatively.
· Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to handle sensitive issues and engage effectively with different parties.
· High ethical standards and a commitment to transparency and honesty in all communications.
· Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to public relations and media communications.
· Understanding of the local cultural and social dynamics of communities to effectively navigate and address concerns.
SKILL/COMPETENCIES
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate across all levels, in a professional and polite manner.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Great at public speaking and presentation.
· Aptitude for strategic problem-solving.
· Ability to diffuse tense situations and stay calm. and the ability to communicate across all levels, in a professional and polite manner.
· Well-versed in Excel, Word, and Power Point.
· ERP mindset is prerequired to let all processes be guided by.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From ₦1,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Port Harcourt: Reliably commute or willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (Preferred)
- •NIPR or other membership/certification?
- proven work experience as a PRO: 7 years (Required)
