CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3- The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with children or young people and, in the overseas context, all posts are considered level 3 posts in view of potential situations that may allow staff unsupervised access to vulnerable children and young people.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Stabilization Center Coordinator will ensure the quality of services in the stabilization centre by strengthening capacities on the clinical management of SAM with medical complications and facilitating the integration of services related to newborn and child health.
The Stabilization Center Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day activities/services provided to admitted cases (and Caregivers) at the Stabilization Centre and will generally support the accurate documentation and stock-management of commodities, medicines/consumables, and quality data management.

Staff reporting to this post: Stabilization centre Doctors, Nurses, and help mothers

Role Dimensions: The role is expected to foster relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including Save the Children members, the Country Office Programme Development & Quality team, advocacy, operations, finance, supply chain, HR and admin colleagues, and field offices.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Programme implementation:
Objective 1: Provision of high-quality care to complicated SAM cases.
- Provide overall oversight for clinical care to complicated cases of SAM admitted at the Stabilization Centre (SC).
- Ensure clinical care provided at the SC is in accordance with the National guidelines for In-patient Management of SAM.
- Mentor and provide on-the-job training on stabilization care and documentation to doctors, nurses, and other health workers deployed to the SC to ensure:
o Correct use of programme monitoring and evaluation (recording) tools
o Appropriate use of resources, stock control, and ordering procedures.
o Family-centered approach
Objective 2: Programme Management and Documentation.
- Monitor the In-patient Management of SAM.
- Supervise the use of medicines, medical supplies, nutrition-related commodities, and data tools in the SC.
- Participate in the development and review of programme monitoring and evaluation tools where necessary.
- Ensure timely collection, compilation, and analysis of quality data as well as production of quantitative and qualitative reports regarding all SC activities
- Evaluate regularly the impact of the activities and propose changes for improvement
- Prepare weekly and monthly activities reports and any other ad hoc report that may be required
- Monitor the stock of Commodities, medicines, medical supplies: calculate needs, decide quantities to be delivered to the Stabilization Centre,
- Ensure accurate stock inventories to mitigate expiration, sleeping stock, and overstock.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings on crosscutting health issues.
- Facilitate integration of services for a holistic approach of SAM by working in collaboration with other project sectors; WASH, protection, FSL, etc.
- Establish close coordination and collaboration with OTPs and other stabilization centers for optimal and quality referral systems.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentoring for staff in SC to ensure:
o Correct use of programme monitoring and evaluation (recording) tools
o Appropriate use of resources, stock control, and ordering procedures
- Promote integrated care in the SC.
- Participate in Nutrition-related Meetings, Seminars, and Workshops and feed information acquired back into programming.
- Work closely with other thematic teams in the Nigeria Country office and the Yobe State offices.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Medical Degree (MB, BS)
- NYSC certificate or Exemption certificate
- Valid practicing license
- At least 5 years post-graduation experience
- Previous work experience in stabilization center
- Experience in Nutrition and community-based programmes
- Training and experience in the treatment of acute malnutrition
- Work experience in the humanitarian context
- Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point)
- Fluency in English and Hausa, spoken and written
- Ability to work in partnership with government and other NGO staff
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work within a team setting
- Independence, adaptability, and flexibility with good workload management, multitasking, and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently (with minimal supervision) and as a member of a team
