CP works through its local partners and a range of stakeholders for development, as well as emergency response-related interventions, which makes collaboration a key component of its work, across the country.
Job Summary
The Communications Specialist will be responsible for overall CARE Pakistan’s communication and visibility in line with CARE’s global, regional, national communication protocols and donor's visibility guidelines. The role will be to create content for the outreach and marketing campaigns, manage CARE’s visibility, and develop marketing materials for specific projects. The incumbent will be expected to align and integrate all major knowledge management centric initiatives and tools to ensure that two-way exchange of information takes place successfully, along with timely dissemination of quality products amongst all CARE stakeholders. The role also includes coordinating major program events, leading their design and execution, holding media events, managing digital and social media presence, producing press releases, organizing major visits, compiling and documenting key communication messages.
The position of Communications Specialist will directly report to the Director Business Development, Communication & Advocacy and will closely work with the Project teams to manage communications and knowledge management of comms-related matters.

Job Responsibilities and Tasks
1 - Ownership of CARE Pakistan's Communication Processes and Delivery: (35% of Time)
  • Develop communications work plan with timelines for implementation in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop, write and edit marketing and communications materials, including press releases, success stories, and publications.
  • Promote communications and marketing materials through appropriate channels.
  • Track analytics and create reports detailing the performance of communications campaigns.
  • Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with CARE and donor guidelines and standards.
  • Build partnerships for external communication.
  • Maintain and actively contribute towards creating graphic content for various project related communication using effective methods such as audio, video, photos, infographics etc.
  • Manage the project outreach/awareness campaign Establish minimum standards for CARE’s content by working with CARE Pakistan staff and partners, to ensure consistency of messaging and accuracy of information on various avenues (such as the website and social media).
  • Work with CARE Pakistan Team to produce and disseminate press releases and other communications materials, and to support advocacy/awareness efforts regarding the Humanitarian, Development and Nexus programming of CARE.
  • Visit the field to monitor and support media and communications work by collecting and developing case studies, along with compiling communication materials.
  • Support CARE’s external representation and policy/advocacy work, including work with the donors, partners, peer organizations, media and right holders.
  • Develop program/projects related communication strategies, including parameters for the delivery of effective events and media engagements with government, donors, partners, and others.
  • Ensure program/project information is continually updated for all the relevant communication channels by gathering all relevant and required information from the program/project teams for both Humanitarian, Development and Nexus programming.
2 - Media and External Stakeholder Engagement: (30% of Time)
  • Ensure program/projects related information is continually updated for all the relevant communication channels used by gathering all relevant and required information.
  • Train key contacts, including program/project teams from partners, on appropriate projects related communications and reporting.
  • Manage communications and branding for CARE Pakistan
  • Coordinate and support CARE Pakistan and its partners to establish and maintain high quality and timely media functions and activities, in order to support public awareness initiatives.
  • Visit the field to monitor and support media and communications work by collecting and developing case studies, along with compiling communication materials.
  • Support CARE’s external representation and policy/advocacy work, including work with the donors, partners, peer organizations, media, and beneficiaries.
3- Strategic Development and Implementation: (30% of time)
  • Develop an understanding and awareness of CARE Pakistan’s overall communication needs including external communications strategies for Humanitarian/Development and Nexus programming.
  • Finalize CARE’s communication strategy taking inspiration from CARE global communication strategy.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of the program/project communication activities and how these can be improved from time to time.
  • Maintain a database of resources related to events, visits, and media engagements.
  • With support from program/project teams develop and finalize content for the capacity statements.
  • Develop bi-annual newsletters, annual reports and subsequent dissemination plan.
4- Other responsibilities as assigned (5% of time)
  • Any other tasks or responsibilities based on organizational and programming needs as assigned by the Line Manager.
A) Qualifications (Know How)
Required
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, journalism, marketing, media or related discipline from a reputable international or national institute.
Desired
Master’s degree in a related field.
B) Experience/ Technical Skills
At least 6-7 years of relevant experience in a credible media organization OR equivalent experience in Communications and/or media in media agency, private sector or humanitarian or development agency.
Experience of leading communications and media activities in a challenging environment and a good knowledge of media in Pakistan.
Strong knowledge and understanding of donor reporting and communication requirements.
Excellent writing skills, and ability to produce compelling media products in English, such as press releases, key messages, speaking points and Q&As.
Highly organized and able to solve problems quickly.
Excellent relationship building skills.
Experience of delivering training, presentations, and other capacity building activities to varied audiences.
Excellent IT skills with understanding of effective visual communications for diverse audiences.
Experience in multimedia content development; photography and video production and editing.
Politically and culturally sensitive to the type of media and communication content and delivery methods.
Desired
  • Proficiency in regional languages.
  • Experience of working with international donors, particularly corporates, foundations and major institutional donors, and familiarity with their reporting and compliance requirements.
