Position Summary
The Operating Room Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the clinic’s surgical department. This role ensures that all surgical procedures are carried out efficiently and safely, adhering to both local healthcare regulations and the clinic's protocols. The supervisor coordinates between the surgical team, support staff, and other departments, ensuring that the operating room (OR) is properly staffed, supplied, and ready for procedures.

Position Summary
The Operating Room Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the clinic’s surgical department. This role ensures that all surgical procedures are carried out efficiently and safely, adhering to both local healthcare regulations and the clinic's protocols. The supervisor coordinates between the surgical team, support staff, and other departments, ensuring that the operating room (OR) is properly staffed, supplied, and ready for procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Supervise the daily activities in the operating room, including scheduling of procedures and assignments of nursing and surgical staff.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, infection control measures, and all other regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain the functionality and cleanliness of all OR equipment and surgical instruments.
- Ensure the timely and accurate documentation of surgical procedures, patient information, and any incidents.
- Lead and supervise a team of nurses, surgical technologists, and support staff.
- Manage staff scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts and emergency situations.
- Facilitate continuous training and professional development opportunities for OR staff.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback and guidance.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to ensure optimal patient care before, during, and after surgery.
- Address and resolve any concerns regarding patient care within the surgical department.
- Coordinate the preparation of the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are ready for each procedure.
- Manage the inventory of surgical supplies, instruments, and medications.
- Ensure all materials are sterile, available, and within expiration dates.
- Work with suppliers and the purchasing department to order necessary equipment and supplies.
- Ensure all surgical procedures are in compliance with the Department of Health (DOH) and other relevant local regulations.
- Implement and monitor safety protocols to prevent infections, accidents, and equipment failures.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of the operating room and staff practices.
- Prepare and manage the operating room budget.
- Keep records of staff schedules, training certifications, and procedural outcomes.
- Compile reports and present them to the clinic’s management on OR performance and outcomes.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or any healthcare-related course.
- License/Certification: Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid PRC license; additional certification in OR Nursing is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role in an operating room or surgical setting.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHR) and OR management software.
- In-depth knowledge of DOH regulations, infection control practices, and safety protocols.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make decisions swiftly.
