Payroll Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Payroll Supervisor manages the payroll team and ensures the timely and accurate processing of employee payroll. This position is responsible for overseeing payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and assisting with audits. The Payroll Supervisor works closely with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure a seamless payroll process.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise the payroll team and manage daily operations of payroll processing.
Oversee the accurate and timely preparation and distribution of employee paychecks.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, wage laws, and reporting requirements.
Handle payroll discrepancies, inquiries, and complex payroll issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate and up-to-date employee data (e.g., salaries, benefits, taxes).
Monitor and reconcile payroll reports to ensure accurate payroll tax filings, deductions, and benefit contributions.
Lead payroll system upgrades, implementations, and maintenance, ensuring the system is optimized for efficiency and compliance.
Prepare and manage reports related to payroll, taxes, and benefit distributions for internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, labor laws, and relevant regulations, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Oversee and manage the processing of year-end reports, such as W-2 forms.
Develop and implement payroll procedures and policies to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Assist in the preparation and review of payroll budgets and forecasts.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience as a Payroll Supervisor or a similar role in payroll management.
In-depth knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycom) and MS Office (particularly Excel).
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Experience managing a payroll team and handling high-volume payroll.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
Familiarity with unionized environments and collective bargaining agreements.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position, typically office-based.
Occasional overtime may be required to meet payroll deadlines.
