As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be a key player in our data-driven strategy, responsible for conducting in-depth predictive analysis to inform decisions and optimise our business performance. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, providing insights that will improve our operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Your ability to turn data into clear, impactful recommendations will drive the strategic direction of Starbucks South Africa.

Here, you’ll achieve results by:
· Design and develop predictive models to forecast sales trends, customer behaviour, inventory needs, and other critical business areas.
· Perform in-depth statistical analysis to understand factors influencing performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
· Use machine learning algorithms and data mining techniques to uncover actionable insights and opportunities.
· Collaborate with internal teams to identify analytical needs, define key performance metrics, and align models with business objectives.
· Present complex data findings in an accessible and compelling format for stakeholders, including senior leadership.
· Continuously evaluate and refine models, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and alignment with changing business dynamics.
· Contribute to data best practices, fostering a data-informed culture across the organisation.
Experience and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
· 5+ years of experience in data science, predictive analysis, or a similar role.
· Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with SQL for data extraction and management.
· Background in machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, and predictive modelling techniques.
· Experience using data visualisation tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar to communicate complex findings.
· Proven ability to translate data into insights that drive decision-making and business strategy.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
· Strong communication skills for effectively conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
