JOB SUMMARY:
Physical Education and Sport are very important to our College, with everyone participating through our curriculum and activities programme. As a non-negotiable pledge, we offer a comprehensive programme of competitive and participatory sport for beginner to advanced level students across a variety of sports. Our core sports are football, basketball, volleyball and swimming but the curriculum is broad and offers lessons and extra-curricular training in other sporting areas as well as our core sports.
The school has its own 25m pool, full court gymnasium, 1/2 field astro and various other outdoor sports facilities. The school is in south central Seoul near the Han River with access to nearby community sports facilities such as tennis, badminton, climbing, gym, racquetball, table tennis, running and cycling. Seoul has plentiful opportunities for spectating professional sport e.g., thriving baseball, basketball, volleyball, football and golf national and international competition.
The successful candidate should expect to be involved in competitive sports most Saturdays during the school term and most days after school. International travel in Asia with teams will also be a feature of the job.

REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must have:

• An appropriate degree, with PGCE, or other teaching qualification giving QTS
• Minimum two years’ teaching experience
• Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
• A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children
• Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities
• Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background
• A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life
• Enhanced DBS disclosure.

Experience of teaching Early Years, Swimming and/or Dance is desirable

The curriculum is based on an enhanced version of the English Early Years Foundation Stage framework and National Curriculum with suitable modifications made to take into account the diverse make-up of the school population. Mandarin is a compulsory and high profile subject throughout the College, with a flexible and comprehensive curriculum that caters to everyone from total beginners to bilingual students.
The co-curricular dimension of the College is exceptionally strong. Music, art and sport, in particular, are thriving, with regular sports fixtures, school concerts and productions. All members of staff are expected to contribute to the co-curricular programme and students in the Junior and Senior Schools are encouraged to take two activities each term. Educational visits and residential trips in the form of ‘adventurous journeys’ in Senior School are integral parts of the curriculum, and included in school fees.
