Technical Field Manager Training Ukraine (internal announcement)

Wars and armed conflicts come to an end; however, the remnants of war continue to impact millions of people for decades to follow. Mine Action and Disarmament's vision is a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by Explosive Ordnance (EO). Currently, NPA has more than 20 Mine Action Programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, South East Europe and the Middle East.
Do you have operational mine action- and leadership experience? Are you great at people leadership and communication? Do you have experience developing, managing and delivering training to both national and international staff? Then you might be the candidate we are looking for to join NPA’s dynamic Mine Action and Disarmament programme in Ukraine which, as a result of the ongoing conflict, is currently one of the most contaminated countries in the world. The position is responsible for the preparation, design, planning and delivery of all NPA trainings for all newly-recruited staff.
Location: Southern Ukraine (Mykolaiv or Kherson regions), travels to NPA’s office in Kyiv may be required.

Requirements:
- IMAS EOD level 2 or equivalent military qualification, with at least 2 years of operational mine action experience from military, NGO or commercial sector;
- Experience in implementation of land release approach in mine clearance context.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and deliver training to both national and international staff.
- Proven experience in leading, motivating and managing a diverse team.
- In-depth knowledge of IMAS and land release principles.
- Strong numeracy and IT skills.
- Category B driving license.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Available to start in January 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, and implement all training courses as directed by the Senior TFMs and the Operations Manager (OM), ensuring alignment with Programme requirements.
- Assist in conducting training needs analysis to identify operational gaps and implement corrective training as necessary.
- Complete all training-related documentation to maintain accurate records.
- Proactively contribute to the development and update of training methodologies.
- Proactively contribute to the development and implementation of capacity-building plans for national operational staff to promote their professional growth.
- Submit logistical requests as needed, ensuring adequate equipment is available for training.
- Ensure that the OM is briefed on any challenges arising in the respective area of operations.
- Proactively contribute to the development and updating of operational SOPs and maintain operational accreditation.
- Manage day-to-day mine action operations, including land release activities (NTS, TS, mine clearance, and BAC) as required.
- Stay informed of all relevant Mine Action standards (IMAS/NMAS) and ensure in-depth knowledge of all relevant technical equipment used by NPA in operations.
- Assist and support Senior Technical Field Managers (STFMs) in planning and development, ensuring the safe execution of all NPA technical activities within the country of operation.
- Assist and support the OM and STFMs assess gaps in the operational capacity of both national and expatriate staff.
- Support the achievement of donor targets while ensuring the quality management of mine action operations in compliance with SOPs, NMAS, and IMAS.
