Job summary
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.
HQ ARRC (Allied Rapid Reaction Corps) sits within the Field (Fd) Army structure which is part of the Army a major part of the MOD.

HQ ARRC provides NATO with a rapidly deployable, flexible HQ that can act as a Joint, Land or Corps HQ for operations and crisis response. Its multi-national ethos, combination of cultures and innovation, strong professional reputation in NATO and proven track record in interoperability are unique among its High Readiness Force (Land) (HRF(L)) peers.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
The post holder is responsible for providing financial assurance and governance for HQ ARRC and its subordinate Brigades. The post holder will function as the initial point of contact for reviewing business cases and assurance returns enabling ARRC to operate effectively and efficiently within the boundaries of current and evolving policy.

Based in HQ ARRC the successful candidate will be the first point of contact for UK financial governance and assurance, supporting the delivery of all ARRCs UK Financial requests. You will work collaboratively with a myriad of stakeholders from HQ ARRC, subordinate Brigades and Field Army.

You will.

  • Review all ARRC Business cases for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with current regulations, and collaborating with Brigades, UK Finance Officer and Field Army Resource Team
  • Scrutinise all ARRC financial activity ensuring compliance with Army policy and ensuring affordability
  • Be the focal point for completion of assurance and compliance returns and point of contact for financial returns and allowances
  • Review monthly management finance data, providing reports for senior management and highlighting areas of concerns, affordability and proprietary.
Person specification
The ideal candidate will be confident with the ability to prioritise own workload seeking guidance when required. You will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to process information.
It is essential that the successful candidate will:
  • Be computer literate with excellent excel experience
  • Have analytical skills to seek and analyse information and data to inform decisions based on best available evidence to ensure improvements
  • Be able to collaborate with stakeholders from across the organisation

It is desirable that the successful candidate has:

  • Previous experience of working in a large, dispersed organisation
  • Financial experience and/or background in analysing information.
