Job description
An exciting position for a Garrison Fire Safety Maintainer has opened within Headquarters Catterick Garrison. As part of a hard-working, motivated, and enthusiastic team, you will have an excellent opportunity to work alongside civilian and military colleagues providing crucial health and safety related support to a large number military and civilian staff as well as to many Army Units.
As the Garrison Fire Safety Maintainer, you will be making a significant contribution to the Health and Safety of Service Personnel across the Catterick Garrison Area of Responsibility.
You will be responsible to the Garrison Sergeant Major for the management and maintenance of Fire safety equipment within Headquarters Catterick Garrison (HQCG) Area of Responsibility (Ao R).
One of the vital activities within this role is to carry out annual fire extinguisher maintenance within HQCG Ao R and the maintenance of Fire safety databases including Fire Risk Assessments (FRA) and tracking of FRA recommendations.
Fire Extinguishers inspection within HQCG infrastructure in line with Fire Safety Policy and advising customers of any issues accordingly is a critical role of this post, as is advising the Garrison Unit Fire Safety Manager (UFSM) 6 months in advance of FRAs expiring.

It is therefore important that Building Fire Focal Points are made aware of any changes to Fire Policy as advised by the Garrison Sergeant Major (GSM) and/or Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant (RQMS).
You will monitor HQCG infrastructure Fire diaries and report back to the UFSM and assisting the GSM, and other related staff, with the maintenance and management of fire related issues on all Garrison infrastructure.
