Job Purpose:

• Reporting into the Hygiene Shift Team Leader you will work across all of the production areas and be responsible for ensuring that all machines and the actual building meet strict standards of hygiene at all times.
• You will ensure that the factory and equipment is cleaned according to the Safe System of Work.
• In addition to the cleaning duties, a Hygiene Operative is also responsible for the accurate completion of all associated paperwork, ensuring that due diligence is followed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carrying out scheduled daily cleaning tasks
• Cleaning of processing equipment and production lines to meet required standards
• Deep cleaning of production areas
• Post cleaning checks to make sure everything has been completed properly
• Ensuring that all paperwork is correctly completed
• Making sure that everything you do complies with company procedures for Health & Safety and Hygiene
• Ensuring that your cleaning and personal protective equipment are functioning correctly at all times
• The ability to work effectively under pressure of time
• Reporting any incidents or environmental concerns to your line manager.
• Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are correctly followed
• Ensure cleaning equipment is of working order and safe to use
• Ensure staff follow ‘Good Manufacturing Practice’ standards for food hygiene
• Continuously monitor quality and ensure adherence to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
• Cleaning machinery in machine wash to specification and ensuring the machines are of working order and safe to use
• Using tray wash appliance to ensure trays are washed to specification and ensuring they are safe to use
• Keeping line area clean at all times, including the removal of waste
• Using cleaning chemicals to correct concentrations
• Routine deep cleaning schedules
• Accurate completion of cleaning and testing records

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• To be able to work across a variety of environments and you’ll be provided with suitable personal protective equipment.
• Experience gained in a similar role is desirable but not essential, as training will be given
• A good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP
• The ability to comply with Hygiene Standard Operating Procedures, work well under pressure, with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
• Ability to speak, read and write clearly in English as well as good literacy skills (you must be able to pass entry numeracy and literacy tests)
• Good communication skills in order both to understand technical cleaning requirements and to report any issues as they arise in a clear manner
• Ability to accurately complete paperwork
• An understanding of Health and Safety requirements
• Team player with a positive effect on the mood
• Consistently manages the task
• The ability to work in a team, within a productivity range, and contribute positively to its activities.
