Role Overview:
As the Inventory Controller, you will take full ownership of managing inventory to maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring availability without compromising our inventory targets. You'll play a key role in guaranteeing on-time delivery to Production, meeting customer demand seamlessly. Leading a dedicated team of three, you will oversee the smooth operation of Goods In, Despatch, and Stores, while driving the adoption of innovative methods as needed. You will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager, contributing to the overall success of our supply chain operations.
Work Environment: This is an on-site role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous improvement in the Goods In, Despatch and Stores.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure smooth supply of materials and products.
- Conduct regular inventory cycles and report findings.
- Develop and implement effective inventory management strategies.
- Address and resolve any inventory related issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with supply chain and production teams to ensure stock levels meet demand
- Assist in preparing and planning for stock takes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant company policies.
- Regular monitoring of material and kitting activity and to resolve problems associated with material and equipment issues.
- Process and control incoming material whilst adhering to procedures to effectively supply the Production areas.
- Maintain effective control of materials within the inventories by use of location, transaction and kanban control procedures in conjunction with inventory control systems.
- Maintain a shortage tracking system for the production teams.
- Advise Production Team Leader on material status and its impact on quality and/or delivery.
- Deliver the training of staff. Typically, this will include monitoring and determining department requirements and delivering training as identified by the Supply Chain Manager. Instruction and appropriate supervision to ensure safe and effective working practices.
- To escalate any staff welfare, performance or employee relations matters to the Supply Chain Manager.
Critical Competencies for Success:
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes and knowledge of logistics operations.
- Experience using MRP systems.
- Previous experience managing teams.
- Advance IT skills especially MS Office and Excel.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication. Both verbal and written with appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Experience and passion to work on innovative ideas and create/ build new processes.
- Flexible with a strong team focus.
- Ability to show initiative- anticipates problems.
- Ability to follow procedures in force within the section and to adopt new methods as and when required.
- The flexibility to perform other activities, which from time to time become necessary.
- Willingness to undertake cross training as required.
