Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Language Interpreter to join our team. This individual will be responsible for providing real-time interpretation services for various settings, including critical meetings, translation of sensitive documents, and culturally nuanced content creation. This role demands a high level of proficiency in multiple languages and a deep understanding of cultural contexts. Additionally, the interpreter will offer sign language services to support the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in all communications.
Duties
Real-Time Interpretation:

• Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation during live meetings, conferences, and other critical events, ensuring clear and accurate communication between all parties.
• Accurately convey the meaning and tone of the original language, maintaining the speaker's intent and the message's integrity.
• Adapt to various topics and technical jargon, including legal, medical, financial, and technical terminology.
• Interpret across multiple languages as required, ensuring clear and precise communication between all parties.

Document Translation:

• Translate sensitive documents, such as legal contracts, medical reports, and business proposals, with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
• Ensure that translations are contextually and culturally appropriate, maintaining the original document's nuances and intent.
• Proofread and edit translated materials to ensure the highest quality and accuracy.

Culturally Nuanced Content Creation:

• Assist in creating culturally relevant content for various mediums, including marketing materials, social media, websites, and internal communications.
• Advise on cultural considerations and sensitivities that may impact the content’s reception and effectiveness in different target markets.
• Collaborate with the marketing and content creation teams to ensure that all materials are culturally appropriate and effectively convey the intended message.

Sign Language Interpretation:

• Provide sign language interpretation services to support the deaf and hard-of-hearing community during meetings, events, and other interactions.
• Stay updated with the latest sign language practices and methodologies to ensure effective communication.

Client Liaison and Relationship Management:

• Work closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences, ensuring that all interpretation and translation services meet their expectations.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with clients, safeguarding sensitive information and building trust.
• Provide feedback and suggestions to clients on best practices for cross-cultural communication.
• Offer pre-meeting consultations to prepare for specialized vocabulary and context.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated on industry trends, language evolution, and cultural shifts to provide the most current and accurate interpretation and translation services.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance language skills and cultural knowledge.
• Contribute to developing and refining interpretation and translation processes to improve efficiency and quality continuously.

Training and Development:

• Participate in continuous professional development to keep skills current with industry standards.
• Mentor junior interpreters and provide guidance on best practices and ethical considerations.

Administrative Duties:

• Maintain detailed records of interpretation sessions and translation projects.
• Prepare reports and feedback summaries for client review and internal assessment.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, International Public Relations or a related field preferred.
Experience – Proven experience as a professional interpreter and translator, with a strong portfolio of work, experience in interpreting for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
Skills
Strong command of sign language (e.g., British Sign Language - BSL)
Fluency in at least two languages - English is essential; additional languages are a plus.
Exceptional listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Understanding of cultural sensitivities and ability to navigate different cultural contexts.
Familiarity with interpretation and translation software and tools is an advantage.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
