Major Projects Manager

Major Projects Manager (Highways)
Working Pattern: 37 hrs per week – Monday to Friday
Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 (Hybrid working)
About the Role
Via is currently looking for a Major Projects Manager (Highways) to join our Design & Project Management Team based at our Trent Bridge House Office in West Bridgford Nottingham.
We are excited to be delivering an ambitious programme of improvements to the county’s road network including highways improvements and the creation of sustainable transport solutions.
Be part of a programme bringing real benefit and growth to our communities and environment. You will be able to lead a team of project managers in the end to end co-ordination and successful delivery of significant highway and civil engineering projects.
In this role you will:
  • Provide specialist project management expertise compliant with legislation and national/local policies including role of expert witness at planning/public inquiry.
  • Manage programme and resource capacity to ensure successful delivery of the team’s project programme.
  • Manage staff, coach and act as a mentor to develop technical expertise within the team and individuals.
  • Collaborate across the business to maintain workflow and identify resource requirements for productivity and profit across design and build functions.
  • Act as an ambassador for individual schemes and the Company with clients and across professional networks, business, and community
What you will bring:
Mainly you will be excited to be a pivotal part of our Design & Project Management Team but there are just a few other things we’d like from you:
  • A degree in Project Management, Civil Engineering, or a related subject and post qualification relevant experience, or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and/or civil engineering project management environment.
  • Ability to lead a team, make decisions and solve problems meeting objectives and operational targets with an ability to prioritise and manage resources.
  • Proficiency at project management with proven experience of all stages of project implementation from feasibility to construction on site within a highway and/or civil engineering environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to gain agreement and acceptance of others including colleagues, senior managers, and clients.
  • Strong ICT skills including Microsoft Office applications, project management software and knowledge of data management environments.
  • Thorough working knowledge and demonstrable experience of land acquisition and other statutory procedures, contract preparation and management, planning and funding bids.
  • Thorough working knowledge of procurement practices used in design and construction, including forms of tender, conditions of contract and forms of partnership.
  • Proven experience of financial monitoring and control across a range of projects.
  • A high level of personal drive, motivation and commitment to project delivery and excellent customer care and the ability to set an example to other staff.
