About The Role

Would you value the opportunity to experience parish ministry in a vibrant context in North London as your time commitments allow? Would you appreciate support as you explore your sense of vocation alongside your full- or part-time work or study commitments?
The North London Pastoral Assistant Scheme is a long- and well-established Scheme that offers young people (women and men) the opportunity to work for a year or two in a parish context, alongside priests and people, in our lively, diverse parishes of both traditional and liberal catholic integrities.
The Pastoral Assistants/Ministry Experience scheme members serve in some of London’s most vibrant, challenging and diverse parishes. We seek to appoint Pastoral Assistants to serve in parishes located within the London boroughs of Camden and Haringey from September 2025 (or sooner) – and are excited to be offering a part-time pathway alongside our long-established full-time pathway.
The roles provide an opportunity to get involved with some of the breadth of the mission and ministry of the parishes including liturgical, pastoral, hospitality, musical, teaching, social outreach, and other mission and evangelism activities – as time commitment allows.
The placements will be combined with practical and vocational guidance, membership of a praying and worshipping community, and support and friendship with others on the Scheme, both full- and part- time (including the opportunity to attend formation sessions and a trip abroad if other commitments allow).
This part-time placement will be tailored to suit individual circumstances, work commitments, etc. and could involve just a few hours a week. The precise schedule will be determined by consultation between the Supervisor (the Parish Priest) and the Pastoral Assistant.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for all Pastoral Assistants participating in the Scheme.
