Manager, Talent Search
Scope of Position
Perform duties associated with the Talent Search Program at the assigned school district, which may include occasional work in the Jerseyville, Southwestern, Roxana, East Alton Wood River, and/or Alton districts.
Key Measurable Expectations
- Share information about Talent Search Program goals and activities with target school and agency personnel and with applicants/ participants.
- Recruit and select eligible program participants;
- Service a caseload of approximately 120 middle school and 120 high school students within a designated school district;
- Plan and conduct group meetings/workshops and individual conferences with participants, clarify interests and goals, administer and interpret career assessments, provide career guidance and educational counseling;
- Consult with guidance counselors, teachers, or service agency caseworkers to coordinate counseling and support activities with participants;
- Provide participants with information about secondary and post-secondary programs of study;
- Explain how, when and where to apply for financial aid and assist participants with their financial aid applications;
- Plan, coordinate and chaperone cultural field trips and college visits;
- Maintain accurate records of college-based and counseling activities;
- Submit to the Manager monthly reports on contracts with participants and on progress of assigned activities toward grant objectives;
- Complete and turn in monthly documents of student contact to the program office, and keep accurate, organized student files on each participant.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Travel required within the District;
- Bachelor’s Degree in counseling/guidance, education or related field required;
- Valid Driver’s License required.
