EL 1 - Business Intelligence Developer (Digital Court Program)

Position Overview
The Business Intelligence Developer (Digital Court Program) will provide technical expertise for the creation of strategic and operational reports within the Courts’ Digital Court Program (DCP). The role will involve working closely with a range of stakeholders and project team members to build user centric, accurate and integrated reporting products within the Program.

Using industry-standard principles and methodologies, and working in accordance with established team processes, the role is critical to Program goals of ensuring that technical solutions meet a range of strategic objectives including an uplift in the way the Courts manage, analyse and use our data.

This advertisement is for an ongoing position; however, a merit list may be created to fill an additional non-ongoing position for an initial period of 12 months.?

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary project team, design and develop high-quality reporting products that meet strategic and operational objectives.
  • Liaise and negotiate with stakeholders, including operational stakeholders, subject-matter experts and technical teams to ensure that report development is undertaken in line with business expectations and requirements.
  • Contribute to the consistency of processes used to ensure that products are developed, tested and improved in line with program objectives and best-practice standards.
  • Actively participate in cross-skilling within the team to build report development capacity and gain a deep understanding of our operating environment.
  • Ensure that reports comprise consistent and clear information, with data quality issues proactively managed through agreed processes.

Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated technical experience in the development of reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and Visual Studio against Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases.
  • Experience working within project teams to design, develop, integrate and maintain business intelligence products and components in the context of a complex strategic and technical environment.
  • High-level communications skills, including the ability to engage constructively with stakeholders and transform requirements into clear, accurate code.
  • Sound judgement and ability to strategically coordinate the design and delivery of business intelligence initiatives and changes.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a geographically dispersed team.

Other Requirements
Relevant industry or tertiary qualifications would be well regarded.

Eligibility
Employment with the Court is subject to the conditions prescribed in the Public Service Act 1999, and the following:
  • Australian citizenship – the successful applicant must hold Australian citizenship.
  • Security and character clearance – the successful applicant must satisfy a Police Records Check and may also be required to complete security clearances during the course of their employment.
  • Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
Interested candidates who have received a redundancy benefit from an APS agency are welcome to apply but note that they cannot be engaged until their redundancy benefit period has expired.
