Lumerate

Director of Customer Empowerment

Toronto

FULL TIME

August 3, 2024

Lumerate is growing rapidly, and we’re searching for a Director of Customer Empowerment to join us for the journey!
Who is Lumerate?
We are a Toronto-based Saa S company. Our vision is to be the world's most useful and trusted source of information for professionals seeking to understand what's happening in their industry. Our mission at the company is powering informed industry conversations. We’re currently a distributed team of 67 (you’d be lucky Lumerite #68!), scattered across Canada, the UK, and South America.
Lumerate is launching another new brand and we are looking for the first customer-facing role related to this brand. We operate on the belief that the business world is a collection of complex information niches that end up with crummy software and information products because they aren’t mainstream and won’t get the attention of VC backing. We believe the experts within those niches deserve purpose-built tools that accommodate the nuances of that niche and the things that an industry participant wants to achieve. We have positioned our bootstrapped company to successfully enter these underserved markets through leveraging our economies of scope. You will be leveraging those same economies in this role and helping bring a new brand to the world.
Who are you as an ideal candidate?
  • You have experience in the early stages of biotech drug development either through working at a biotech or providing services to them
  • You are someone who has a rare combination of data curiosity and customer confidence. You know your way around a spreadsheets yet you also have sold successfully in a B2B setting
  • You like building things, but you want more entrepreneurial experience under your belt before possibly launching your own venture in the future
  • You hustle yet you are patient and recognize that sometimes technology solutions to problems can take a long time to materialize. In the meantime, your resourceful and can-do attitude finds ways around challenges - even if it sometimes means doing things in less glamorous and manual ways
  • You find joy in innovating
  • You get fired up by doing a variety of different things in a day, and you’re able to juggle many simultaneous priorities
  • You are detail oriented so you’ll notice this request to include the word located at these coordinates 43.63565745335677, -79.43972483985826 in your cover letter
  • You have experienced a less desirable culture in your work history, so you’ll place value on the culture we have built
  • You have a desire to become a people manager or hone your skills as one
What we’d love to see in your previous work experience:
  • Strong understanding of therapeutics, drug development processes, and industry regulations
  • Experience in sales and negotiation in a B2B environment, with a track record of closing deals and achieving revenue targets
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at various levels
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business, Finance, Life Sciences, etc.); MBA or advanced degree preferred
What you’ll be responsible for:
As a business builder you will
  • Work with biotech entrepreneurs to help them understand and engage with the world around them
  • Recruit new prospects to involve in Lumerate projects and experiments
  • Build a robust sales pipeline with a steady flow of potential customers
  • Identify and forge strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, biotech vendors investment firms, and industry influencers
  • Attend conferences to meet with new and existing clients
As a data guru you will
  • Work on fulfilling custom requests from biotech companies about their competitive landscape and their partner environment
  • Oversee the incorporation of data into intelligence solutions for biotech entrepreneurs and leadership teams
  • Identifying new data sources that help Lumerate’s biotech users
As a marketer you will
  • Plan out marketing strategy and make decisions about naming and brand identity
  • Collaborate with others at Lumerate to launch new collateral and campaigns
As a coach you will
  • Design and deliver training programs to ensure that both internal teams and clients are well-versed in service you are building
  • Educate end users on Lumerate applications with a goal of maximizing engagement
  • Hire -then manage- a data analyst to work closely with you on fulfilling projects.
Why Lumerate? Fancy perks etc.
  • Help shape the future of a bootstrapped and profitable Canadian tech company
  • Be a part of a tightly-knit team with a thriving hybrid culture
  • Three weeks paid vacation + paid statutory holidays
  • Join us for our annual all-company retreat (past destinations include Iceland, Costa Rica, Portugal and Dominican Republic)
  • Earn additional paid vacation days with continued learning ($1000 annual stipend for courses and classes)
  • Take part in our Employee Giving Program (you choose the causes and the company provides the funds)
Location: The successful candidate will be hybrid–working from our Toronto office on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
Salary: $80K to $130K per year depending on the transferability of your experiences and competencies
Start Date: We are looking for a candidate who can start immediately; however we are flexible based on the availability of the successful candidate.
