Varmestuen Fedtekelderen is looking for volunteers who have a few hours to spare Sundays now and then to help vulnerable people with their most basic needs at our shelter
The shelter Fedtekælderen (which is beautifully located right next to the canal) is looking for volunteers for one or more of the following tasks:

Talking, playing backgammon, chess etc with Fedtekælderens guests

Cooking food for the homeless - we serve free food and use the raw materials we get donated creatively so that the food tastes heavenly and we avoid food waste

Helping in the kitchen with serving food, coffee and tea, buttering bread for the guests of the Grease Cellar

Cleaning - we know you are out there - you who just love to scrub and scrub. Only light cleaning in the kitchen and conservatory, as we have hired some of our guests to take care of the harder work

Organizing clothes (agreements with recycling shops, collection, sorting, etc.) so that we can always, always offer clean clothes to our guests in connection with bathing

Chopping/slicing/freezing so that we always, always have vegetables to throw in the pots

Helping with wiping tables, setting up chairs, carrying rubbish out, so that there is also time to collect on the day after closing time

Other practical work

Fedtekælderen has approx. 30 volunteers, but we need even more to carry out the many tasks, so that we don't unnecessarily wear out the faithful volunteers we already have TFedtekælderens volunteers are not included in any conflict management - the paid employees take care of that.

Fedtekælderens guests are people who struggle with mental disorders, homelessness, abuse etc. We are visited daily by 50-100 from the target group.

We are open every weekday from 8-12/13, Thursdays 10-12, Saturdays closed, Sundays (Oct.- May) 8-12. The shifts will be between 7.30 and 12.30,- you of course decide how many hours you want to contribute with.

In our shelter Fedtekælderen there is a good atmosphere, good laughs and safe working conditions. We serve food and tea/coffee and offer warm clothes, showers, conversation, help with big and small things, bridge building, help with contacting the authorities, etc. Our guests come from all over the world, so language skills are definitely an advantage - but we also get far talking Danish and with body language
