The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is inviting applications for the position of Temporary Filtration Plant Room Operator (TFPRO) under the Post-Retirement Service Contract (PRSC) Scheme. Only retired civil servants or civil servants who are on final leave prior to their retirement meeting the following entry requirements are eligible for applying for the said PRSC position. Resignees will not be considered. Successful applicants will be employed to work in the filtration plant room of any public swimming pools, swimming pool complexes and large-scale parks as deployed by LCSD. Appointed candidates will be employed for a period of up to one year in general.
Salary: $22,145 per month or the actual pay point of an appointed candidate before his/ her retirement from the civil service, whichever is lower
Entry Requirements:
Candidates should be -
(1) retired Senior Artisans (Filtration Plant) [SArs(FP)] and Artisans (Filtration Plant) [Ars(FP)] who have ceased work in LCSD for not more than three years as at the time of close of applications;
(2) SArs(FP) and Ars(FP) who are on final leave prior to their retirement as at the time of close of applications; or
(3) retired SArs(FP) and Ars(FP) who might have ceased work in LCSD for more than three years as at the time of close of applications but have served as non-civil service contract TFPROs in the last three years as at the time of close of applications.
Candidates must meet the following requirements –
(i) possess at least three years’ work experience in filtration plant room operation in public swimming pools immediately before retirement (the final leave period is not counted in the period of three years’ work experience);
(ii) possess good knowledge in operating the filtration plant, ozone disinfection system, chlorinators and other relevant apparatus; and
(iii) have satisfactory performance and conduct in the most recent three years of service in LCSD.
[Note: The aggregate employment period of a retired/ retiring civil servant under the PRSC Scheme should not exceed five years.]
Duties:
(1) Operating the filtration plant, ozone disinfection system, chlorinators and other relevant apparatus; and ensuring that the operation of the plant is in order;
(2) Testing and adjusting the chemical content of the pool water to the required range;
(3) Applying lubrication and greasing the machines/ equipment in the plant where necessary;
(4) Conducting minor repairing work to all fittings and equipment; and
(5) Keeping stock of tools and chemicals in the plant.
Working Hours:
The conditioned working hours are 45 hours net per week. The incumbent is required to work 7½ hours per day (excluding meal breaks). They are required to work shifts during the period from 6:00 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. or to work overtime according to supervisors’ arrangements. They are also required to work shifts on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Working Location:
Successful applicants will be deployed to the filtration plant room of any public swimming pools or large-scale parks in the districts of Hong Kong Island (i.e. Central & Western, Eastern, Wanchai, and Southern districts). The incumbent may be required to work in the filtration plant of any public swimming pools or large-scale parks in other districts subject to actual operational needs and deployment of LCSD.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful applicants will be appointed on PRSC terms for a period of up to one year in general. The actual contract period will be determined by LCSD according to operational needs.
Fringe Benefits:
Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave (14 days per annum), maternity/ paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. Upon satisfactory completion of the contract and subject to satisfactory performance and conduct during the contract period, PRSC TFPROs may be granted a gratuity. The gratuity payable for the contract will be the sum which, when added to the Government’s contribution as required by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (Cap 485), equals to 15% of the total basic salary of substantive office drawn during the period of contract.
According to the “No Double Benefit” rule, those PRSC TFPROs who are retiring SArs(FP)/ Ars(FP) on final leave will not be entitled to contract gratuity during the overlapping period, i.e. the period when the staff are on final leave and employed as PRSC TFPROs, until their formal departure from the civil service.
For pensioners taking up PRSC positions, the payment of their monthly pensions will be suspended under the pension legislation during the period of their PRSC employment, unless and until they have reached the applicable normal or prescribed retirement age specified in the relevant pension legislation.

(2) The new version of application form for Government jobs G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023) has been in use with effect from 26 July 2023. Candidates who apply for Government jobs advertised on or after 26 July 2023 should use the new G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023). If candidates submit the old version form (G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)), they will be required to fill in the new G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023) afresh and submit it within seven days upon request. If candidates fail to submit the new G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023) within the stipulated deadline, their applications will not be processed further.

The postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application.
(4) To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Applicants will bear any consequences arising from paying insufficient postage. Applications which are incomplete, late, submitted by fax or email, not duly signed by the applicants, or not made in the prescribed form will not be considered.
(5) Candidates who are selected for trade test/ selection interview will normally receive an invitation (by email or by post) in about 6 to 8 weeks from the closing date of application. Those who are not invited for trade test/ selection interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
