AV Media Co-ordinator, RTÉ - Panel

RTÉ is Ireland's national public-service media organisation. A leader in Irish media, RTÉ provides comprehensive, cost-effective, free-to-air multi-media services to the public in Ireland and interested audiences internationally.

RTÉ wishes to form a panel of AV Media Co-ordinators to cover absences and short-term vacancies within our Platform Control department. Platform Control forms part of the wider Platform Operations department. We want to simplify how we work, and we want to be restless in our approach to innovation and trying new things.

Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Platform Control Supervisor, you will be joining a proactive, forward-thinking and collaborative team, setting the standard for excellent innovation. Platform Control is driven by the accurate scheduling of daily programming, and the AV Media Co-ordinator will be responsible for the daily playout operation of all current and future RTÉ television and streamed services.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• The creation, running and monitoring of channel playlists across all RTÉ channels and streamed services, including all associated services such as subtitling and audio description, to ensure successful playout
• Taking responsibility for any operational issues that need to be addressed, resolved, or escalated as appropriate
• Being fully compliant with, and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of, all technological and operational requirements in your area
• Building positive relationships by being proactive, professional and supportive when dealing with issues
• Liaising with key stakeholders and 3rd parties positively and effectively

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Professional knowledge and experience of playout systems, workflows, processes and delivery
• Experience in the management and playout operation of live broadcast events
• A flexible approach to work, open to new ideas and willingness to try new ways of doing things
• An analytical, creative and innovative approach to solving problems
• An ability to work well with multiple inputs and tight deadlines
• An ability to demonstrate editorial judgement
• Strong interpersonal skills, contributing to a positive team culture
• An ability to work in a fast-paced, pressurized team environment
• An understanding of the contribution RTÉ Playout makes to the overall business, including the wider Digital strategy

The role will involve irregular working hours including early mornings, late evenings, overnights, weekends and bank holidays. Flexibility is therefore essential.

The panel will be formed for a period of two years as a support to the Platform Control team, in particular covering planned and unplanned absences it may also be used to fill future vacancies that may arise.

Applicants who are successful in achieving a place on the Panel may be contracted on a casual/irregular basis for a fixed-term and paid at an appropriate rate on the Studio Co-Ordinator salary scale from €19.43 to €25.67 gross per hour.
