As Maersk Air Freight continues with its ambitious growth trajectory, we are now searching for a Global Head of Air Freight Procurement and Capacity Management. Although this role is being advertised in the Netherlands, the successful candidate can be based anywhere in Europe.

Purpose of the role

• Oversee and manage the procurement and capacity management processes for Maersk Airfreight products on a global scale, by sourcing and procuring Airfreight services from suppliers and managing Maersk capacity and resources to ensure most efficient and cost-effective movements.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies that optimize costs while maintaining quality and reliability of Airfreight services.
• Work closely with Airfreight carriers (incl. OCFO) and other service providers to negotiate contracts, secure capacity, and ensure timely delivery of Airfreight services

What you’ll be doing:

Define and roll-out the global/regional Airfreight procurement strategy incl Core Carrier strategy

• Lead negotiations around Airfreight rates / contracts / services / incentives with global contacts from new and existing airlines
• Establish key contacts with Airlines and act as the global procurement communication lead.
• Support creation of C-level relationships with Global Head of Airfreight

Conduct regular QBR/MBR with core carriers

• Define and monitor Performance levels / KPI monitoring for all carriers
• Accountable for management and maintenance of capacity and carrier allocations (incl BSA performance)

Lead and direct global procurement team

• Coach and develop individual team members; create continuous business improvement mindset
• Team leadership: delegate, empower, lead the procurement team

Lead procurement business intelligence, and drive procurement related initiatives:

• Roll-out global initiatives and strategy
• Monthly internal performance monitoring per main tradelane and carriers
• Establish cost savings targets on region-region route level on continuous basis, anticipating market changes

Coordinate procurement of SAF & related sustainability initiatives

• Build and maintain expertise on Sustainable Aviation Fuel, in alignment with corporate sustainability teams
• Procurement of SAF & drive usage of Eco-delivery product

Ensures seamless communication and alignment with Global, Regional and Area Airfreight Management

• Manage and steer the entire global Airfreight organization with respect to core carrier adherence
• Align with gateways team to analyse and implement, when required, consolidation service opportunities for different trade lanes
• Monitor and manage IATA & Compliance related matters across regions and areas

Align with peers in the centre network & capacity team

• Provide regular input for business planning & rolling forecast related to Variable Cost (Air Freight unit cost)
• Align with Pricing to provide regular cost update & market intel

Manage key interfaces with organizational stakeholders

• Support Area organisations with Airfreight expertise and build bridges between Product, Operations and Commercial
• Support on development of Special Products e.g. multi-modal
