This position is based at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) - Noordwijk, Netherlands
Within the Contracts Department, the CIC-CX Contracts Division is in charge of the implementation of all activities in support of the Science and the Human and Robotic Exploration Programmes Directorates. The relevant contracts cover a wide range of complexity, from a few 100 K€ R&D to large Satellites Projects of several 100 M€.
The Division implements all related contracting tasks, ranging from tendering, planning and issue of invitations to tender, to evaluation of proposals, negotiation of contracts as well as their signature and monitoring.
Also, in parallel the Division contributes to the improvement of the overall Regulatory frame in the Contracts Department, and supports the general work initiated in the Department to improve time to contract.

Field(s) of activity for the internship
Topic of the internship: Formulation of Contracts and other contractual and legal agreements (topics such as Intellectual Property rights, liabilities, licencing, export control)
You will be part of the team gaining a valuable insight in procurement/contractual matters (intellectual property, liabilities, contractual agreements, negotiation). You will be exposed to working in collaboration with the initiating directorates, scientists and engineers and related disciplines, which will offer a great opportunity in gaining experience in a challenging yet supportive multinational environment.
Everyday tasks encompass the support/involvement in preparation of requests for offers/invitations to tender, evaluation of proposals, preparing and negotiating the resulting contracts, monitoring of the execution of the contracts. You will also be involved in supporting the handling of administrative, contractual, legal and industrial problems arising from the implementation of Contracts.
In addition, you will also contribute to structuring activities within the Contracts Department or to the benefit of the Programme Directorates.

You must be a university student, preferably in your final or second-to-last year of a university course at Master’s level and you need to remain enrolled at your University for the entire duration of the internship.
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
Knowledge in Business Law, Contract Law, Intellectual Property Law, public procurement law is required.
Knowledge and background in space domain/technology is an asset.
