Global Benefits Management (GBM) allows multinational organizations to manage their insured employee benefits around the world more effectively. The Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) global GBM solution delivers everything clients need when it comes to local broking renewals, global co-ordination, technology, governance and consulting.
About the role
The MMB Multinational Country Leader is responsible for managing the GBM business in the Netherlands. The team focus on the account management of our portfolio of Dutch multinational clients. In this role you are responsible for the management of people, our most important asset and retaining our client portfolio. This includes staffing, planning, compensation reviews, hiring, promoting and retaining our valued employees. You will work to lead your team to achieve our goals of excellent client service, retention and growth. Your opinion and insights matter, we will look for your input and ideas to continually make our teams better. The MMB Multinational Country Leader will report to the MMB Europe Multinational Regional Leader.
Essential Job Responsibility
1. People - Acting as a part of the country and regional team, work collaboratively and in partnership at all times
- Maintain a developmental and challenging environment for all employees through communication of team, country, departmental and individual goals, creation of quantifiable individual objectives and input on timely annual reviews
- Support team's Account Managers, identify, direct and/or provide certain development/ training as required
- Act as a mentor/role model to help GBM colleagues further their career opportunities
- Identify and develop high potential colleagues within our organization
- Provide input on monitoring and controlling staffing, compensation and expenses in support of company financial goals
- Identify opportunities for improved effectiveness through efficiency and technology while maintaining superior client service
- Adhere to established operating procedures and work to modify/enhance procedures to meet evolving service goals
- Research, direct and support the use of new technology to achieve departmental business goals
- Readily accept and help to support implementation of change initiatives
- Carry out Manager responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Assists or completes other tasks as needed by regional leadership
2. Retention - client centric service
- Responsible for the overall country portfolio of clients, assessing staffing and team needs, work assignments and training needs.
- Management of 2/3 clients in an Account Director role, supporting the main account team.
- Oversee the management of any significant business issues
- Responsible to understand billing and finance status of the team
- Participate in country/regional team meetings and initiatives
- Support and plan for MMB Multinational client growth plans
- Manage escalations
- Identify network needs and issues to be addressed.
- Work with the GBM and Darwin Client teams to ensure client satisfaction
- Manage client retention goals of at least 97%
- Contribute to and achieve revenue growth in accordance with annually agreed criteria.
3. Sales/Commercial interaction:
- Work with the GBM Sales team to review pricing, understand and clarify opportunities presented
- Support new business staffing needs
- Support client pitches as required as a technical expert and as appropriate providing resources from your team.
- Support team in identifying and creating opportunities to upsell through the MMB Multinational relationship across Mercer's entire value proposition (M&A, communication, due diligence, pension, etc.)
- Achieve an annually agreed MMB Multinational global growth (sales, expansion and whitespace target)
- Evaluate and prepare renewal checklist, oversee pricing and contracting
4. Innovation - accelerating change, creating the market, differentiation:
- Work in conjunction with the practice management teams to bring new ideas, efficiencies to MMBM.
- Work with other country leaders to share best practices, ideas and client experiences for overall knowledge sharing
- Contribute to the MMB Multinational marketing plans attending and presenting at client events.
- Develop Points of View to bring to the market.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (general and technical)
- Support the goals, service standards and business practices of MMB Multinational
- In depth knowledge of the Global Benefits environment
- Experience of MNC client relationships
- Consulting and broking expertise
- Benefits Admin technology expertise
- Collaborative way of working and good communicator
- A positive and energetic attitude
- A commercial acumen together with strong negotiation skills
- Working knowledge of Benefit Administration technology, or willingness to learn
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Willingness to learn
- The ability to positively influence and assist team members and GBM/Darwin stakeholders (MMB, MCS, Marsh and Mercer)
