Introduction to the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior IP Counsel to join our incredibly hardworking Ownership and Licensing team (O&L) within our Corporate Intellectual Property (CIP) department at the global headquarters in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.

Role and responsibilities

You would be joining a team of international attorneys and paralegals to be a part of the approximately 90 person CIP department. You would be working closely with the other ASML offices in Wilton, San Diego and Silicon Valley in the USA.

• Providing advice on IP issues in a broad range of commercial transactions relating to patent and technology ownership and licenses, source code protection, etc. in relation to interests of R&D, procurement and technology development collaborations with private entities and institutions supported by state aid.
  
• Drafting and negotiating IP related agreements.
  
• Advising, managing, and protecting the company’s Soft IP portfolio, e.g. filing, maintenance, enforcement of TMs, DNs, Copyrights in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  
• Developing and assisting in the implementation of processes and strategies to address IP issues relating to ASML products and services.
  
• Developing an understanding of complex technology in relation to IP.
  
• Working effectively with multiple ASML departments (outside of CIP) and ASML’s key external partners.
  

Education and experience

To be successful in this position, it is important that you are highly motivated, proactive, result-driven and a team-player. The ideal candidate will also have:

• A Law Masters’ degree with strong academic credentials.
  
• 8+ years of relevant experience, either as in-house legal counsel or within a law firm on IP law and trademark law.
  
• Substantial technical experience relating to complex systems and ideally semiconductors;(preferably degree in physics, mechanical or electrical engineering, or similar technical fields).
  

Skills

• Ability to clearly communicate and explain IP issues to non-legal clients (often with only a technical background).
  
• Ability to work on numerous projects in parallel within a fast-paced and ever changing environment.
  
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), proficient in (business) English.
  
• Strong negotiation and drafting skills, preferably related to contracts.
  
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative manner.
  
• Ability to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
