Position Overview:
The WMS Application Specialist will be responsible for the effective configuration, deployment, and support of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure efficient and accurate inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution processes. This role involves working closely with warehouse teams, IT departments, and external vendors to ensure the system meets business needs and operates seamlessly.

The WMS Application Specialist will be responsible for the effective configuration, deployment, and support of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure efficient and accurate inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution processes. This role involves working closely with warehouse teams, IT departments, and external vendors to ensure the system meets business needs and operates seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Implementation & Configuration:
- Assist in the implementation of the WMS, including system setup, configuration, and user training.
- Customize and configure the WMS to meet the specific needs of the business, including inventory control, shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment.
- Participate in the testing of system functionality, identifying potential issues and areas for improvement.
- System Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide day-to-day support for WMS issues, including troubleshooting system errors, resolving user queries, and liaising with technical teams.
- Collaborate with IT and warehouse teams to resolve system problems and ensure continuous system uptime.
- Monitor system performance, identifying areas for optimization and proactively addressing potential issues.
- Process Optimization & Improvement:
- Analyze warehouse processes and workflows to identify areas for efficiency improvements using the WMS.
- Recommend and implement process changes to enhance system functionality and improve warehouse operations.
- Work with key stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into system requirements.
- User Training & Documentation:
- Provide training to warehouse staff and other end users on WMS functionalities and best practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and troubleshooting guides.
- Data Management & Reporting:
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the WMS, including inventory levels, shipments, and order tracking.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports from the WMS to provide insights on inventory levels, order processing times, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support data integration between WMS and other enterprise systems such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and TMS (Transportation Management System).
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP EWM, Blue Yonder (JDA), Boltrics or High Jump.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, logistics, and inventory management principles.
- Experience in system configuration, deployment, and user support for WMS software.
- Proficiency in SQL, database management, and report generation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to train end users.
- Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team environment.
- Experience in integrating WMS with other enterprise systems like ERP or TMS.
- Certifications in WMS platforms or project management (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma).
