Associate - Audit, Assurance & Reporting Advisory

Dunedin

FULL TIME

November 24, 2024

Make an impact! Join us as an Associate in Dunedin

By joining Deloitte, you will become a part of a community of extraordinary professionals who put ‘making an impact’ at the heart of what they do. With our global reach, unwavering support, inclusive atmosphere, and cutting-edge technology, you'll have the opportunity to evolve into your fullest potential.

This role at Deloitte is the perfect introduction to the audit profession. You will get hands-on experience and support to apply your tertiary learnings in a real-world context. People at Deloitte are the best at what they do and learning from high-performers is a fantastic way to kickstart your growth and career.

About this role:

Our Dunedin team are currently looking for an Associate. You will refine your accounting knowledge to become a natural problem-solver and best advise businesses on how to reduce financial risks. Provide stakeholders with confidence and trust in their financial statements – proving they are accurate and free from misinformation.

The team works in project groups of between 4-10 people depending on the client size. These change throughout the year, so you get to work with a range of likeminded people and learn from others.

Audit is about much more than just the numbers. It’s about attesting to accomplishments and challenges and helping to assure strong foundations for future aspirations. Deloitte illuminates the what, how, and why of change so clients are always ready to act ahead. In both challenging and favourable economic conditions, our audit team strives to help our clients “get it right” in today’s complex world.

Your typical day will include:

  • Working closely with clients and colleagues to review NZ IFRS financial statements
  • Reviewing client controls and processes around financial information
  • Reporting and working on behalf of the Auditor General
  • Considering risks in relation to fraud
  • Utilisation of Deloitte's auditing tools
  • Helping businesses measure and report on their sustainability initiatives

So, who is Deloitte in Aotearoa?
We are driven to create an impact that matters at every opportunity. Supported by a strong leadership team and member firms from over 150 countries across the globe, Deloitte in Aotearoa is in the business of solving complex problems. Over our 175-year history, we have built a reputation for impactful delivery across all areas of our business.

Deloitte in Aotearoa recognises the uniqueness of our country identified in our founding document, Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We uphold our responsibility(s) to the founding document and acknowledge Māori as the Tangata Whenua/Indigenous people.

Our shared values are at the heart of everything we do. Living these values, including ‘Manaaki/taking care of each other’ and ‘Hāpai tangata/fostering inclusion’, is essential to ensuring everyone feels included at work and able to reach their full potential. Our values drive our desire to create positive outcomes for our clients, communities, and people.

Deloitte rewards

We hold a simple belief – that our people’s hard work should be recognised and rewarded beyond their remuneration.
We have reimagined what ‘work’ looks like and how we can empower all our people to create a work experience that is distinct to their needs. Founded on concepts of trust, balance, wellbeing and the importance of personal connection, this is the Deloitte Experience.

What we offer:

  • You will be rewarded with a competitive salary (from $58,000 to $63,000 p.a. dependent on experience)
  • Flex-working available in a 37.5 hour work week (Monday to Friday)
  • Subsidised professional qualifications and paid professional memberships
  • Study, birthday and community volunteer leave
  • Career development with regular personalised coaching
  • Subsidised Health Insurance
  • Income protection insurance
  • 22 days annual leave
  • Social events, social sports teams and monthly Firm drinks
  • A focus on wellness and well-being
  • A focus on the environment and sustainability
  • Plus, much more

Enough about us, let’s talk about you. You are someone:

  • Who has completed a bachelor's degree majoring in Accounting, or another major which means you are eligible for CPA Australia or CAANZ.
  • 1 years external auditing experience
  • With prior experience or working knowledge of EMS, Levvia or Omnia systems.
  • Who has a strong analytical mind, detail-oriented, with a passion for accounting.
  • Who is able to work as a member of a team and communicate findings with stakeholders.

What do I need to apply?

  • An up-to-date CV
  • An academic transcript
  • CAANZ/CPA eligible

Does this sound exactly like the sort of role and organisation for you? Then apply now! We’d love to hear from you.
Deloitte is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) and we are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity and inclusion. Knowing that people work best in different ways, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements if the working pattern you are looking for is not specifically indicated. If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to advise us at the time of application to assist you through the recruitment process.

Studies have shown that women and people from under-represented backgrounds are less likely to apply for roles where they do not match the job description criteria exactly. If you're excited about this role and think you have what it takes, but your experience doesn't align 100%, we still want to hear from you and would encourage you to apply.
