The Role
We have a permanent full-time opportunity for a motivated senior academic with expertise in Food Science, to make significant impact and develop their career in teaching, research and service. To complement our existing research group, we are particularly interested in applicants with research expertise in Food Science who also have the ability to teach across our Food Chemistry and Food Technology courses.
We embrace practice-led, as well as research-informed, approaches to teaching where the student experience is optimised. You'll teach third year and postgraduate courses as assigned by the Deputy Head of School. This role also includes the exciting opportunity to teach overseas for 3 weeks a year as well, so the appointee should be willing and able to travel for this purpose.
You will be expected to publish actively in your specialised field/s and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research. We offer an excellent research environment with contestable research funds. It is expected that the successful candidate will seek and attract external research funding, as well as contribute to School/Faculty activities.

1. Qualification:
- A Ph D in Food Science or a related field
- Significant undergraduate and postgraduate lecturing experience in Food Science and Food Technology (including course design, preparation and delivery of lectures, practical sessions, tutorials as well as subject coordination).
- Ability to contribute to the growth and review of an innovative curriculum and development of high quality course content.
- Track record of supervising postgraduate students.
- Significant experience leading and driving research initiatives in Food Science, with a strong track record of publishing in respected journals in the field of Food Science.
- Experience with successful research grant applications.
- Proven experience establishing and nurturing collaborative relationships with peers in related fields, both within the University and across external academic institutions, industry and crown research institutes.
- A proven record of academic leadership and service.
- Experience engaging with external community members, industries, government, or other stakeholders to disseminate research and create opportunities.

- Term: The successful candidate will secure a permanent, full-time academic appointment.
- Salary ranges: Senior Lecturer - NZD $109,051 to $142,591; Associate Professor - NZD $148,548 - $171,983; Professor - NZD $156,354 - $201,425 (appointment level and salary will be commensurate with skills and experience of the successful candidate).
