Business Partner - Privacy

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Toitū Te Whenua is looking for a Business Partner - Privacy to be a key part of our small Privacy Team based in Wellington.
The Business Partner – Privacy reports to the Leader – Knowledge Management (who is also the Privacy Officer) and works closely as a team with the Principal Business Partner – Privacy.
The Privacy Team is part of the wider Knowledge Management Team within the Information Strategy and Delivery Team in the Digital Delivery Group. It is responsible for providing advice and recommendations to Toitū Te Whenua that promote and protect individual privacy and ensure we meet our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020.

This role will involve:
  • Supporting business groups with their undertaking of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
  • Providing sound and informed privacy guidance
  • Managing and investigating privacy breaches
  • Monitoring & reporting against compliance with privacy recommendations
  • Contributing to designing, developing, and delivering privacy training
  • Helping teams develop and enhance processes involving personal information
  • Assessing privacy maturity
  • Privacy promotion and engagement
  • Contributing to privacy policy redevelopment
  • Maintaining and managing PIA and breach registers and other privacy related recordkeeping and communications
  • Working as a team with the Principal Business Partner – Privacy
Be involved in upcoming Privacy policy redevelopment, the development of an active privacy awareness promotion programme and ongoing business risk assessments.

You will have demonstrated skills & experience in the following:

  • Experience of working with the Privacy Act 2020
  • Critical thinking skills – the ability to use and demonstrate sound reasoning and judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to consider advice alongside advice given by others and the strategic direction of the agency
  • Ability to understand, interpret and explain complex documents such as legislation
  • A talent for explaining and presenting complex concepts in a clear and logical way
  • Ability to investigate matters with integrity and a clear decision-making methodology
  • Teamworking & organisational skills
