Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting directly to the Operational Resilience Lead, as part of the Business Continuity Operations team, you will lead and managing the maintenance and testing of WNZL’s BS17 OBR Plan (Plan) implementation to meet WNZL’s regulatory obligations. This critical role involves providing strategic oversight and leadership in collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders, including the WNZL Executive Team, Board of Directors, and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ). Your communication skills will be exceptional, steering the team, key business partners and executives towards the desired outcomes and deadlines. You will provide holistic oversight and strategic guidance on key dependencies, interplay and testing strategies between WNZL's OBR Plan, DCS and other key Crisis plans (Separation Plan, Retail Run).
Key accountabilities include:
  • Lead the engagement with the WNZL Executive Team, the Board and the RBNZ to report on test results, proposed updates, and any required adjustments to the OBR Plan.
  • Collaborate with WNZL’s Crisis Management Team to lead the activation of the OBR Plan in a crisis event, ensuring a swift and effective response.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the annual review and testing of the OBR Plan with key stakeholders across the bank.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve WNZL’s internal crisis management processes and frameworks, ensuring best practices are implemented across all plans.

  • Extensive business continuity/operational resilience experience at first and/or second line of defence ideally qualified in ISO BCM standards or equally industry qualifications.
  • Demonstrated organisational abilities by effectively managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and setting priorities
  • Understanding of financial services, in particular compliance obligations of registered Banks in New Zealand
