Institute for Experimental Medical Research (IEMR)
The Institute for Experimental Medical Research (IEMR) is an innovative and dynamic medical research environment with the aim to understand cardiac biology and disease mechanisms through translational research, and develop new preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic strategies for patients with heart disease. Our vision is “Understanding the heart for the benefit of patients”. With approximately 60 employees and six research groups, our expertise spans molecular biology, physiology and cardiology. Work tasks
The position is specifically intended to establish methods and produce pilot data that will strengthen the competitiveness of IEMR in future calls for external research funding. The tasks will be related to the research on “the stiff heart”, one of IEMR`s three main research areas. The job tasks will involve follow-up and organization of mouse breeding, advanced microscopy techniques, atomic force microscopy, imaging analysis, fibroblasts models, immunoblotting, extracellular matrix analysis, and analysis of collagen fiber geometry and turnover. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with Prof. William Louch and Dr. Cathrine Rein Carlson, other staff at IEMF, and the core facilities at the Institute.
Qualifications
Competence requirements

  • We are looking for a talented and highly motivated candidate who have experience in molecular cardiology and fibrosis
  • The candidate must have competency in mouse breeding, advanced microscopy techniques, atomic force microscopy, imaging analysis, fibroblasts models, immunoblotting, extracellular matrix analysis, and analysis of collagen fiber geometry and turnover
  • The candidate must be dedicated, responsible, enthusiastic, reliable, structured and have the ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary environment
  • The working language is English, and excellent knowledge of spoken and written English is required

  • The candidate is expected to hold, or soon to complete a Ph D degree in molecular cardiology
