Job Title: Billing Specialist
Job Description:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our public accounting firm. The ideal candidate will have experience in billing and accounts receivable processes, exceptional organisational skills, and a strong understanding of financial principles. You will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely invoicing for our clients while maintaining positive relationships and supporting our overall financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Invoice Preparation:
  • Prepare and issue invoices for services rendered, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm policies and client agreements.
  • Review and verify billing information, including time entries and expense reports, to ensure completeness.
  • Client Communication:
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding billing inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to clarify billing issues and provide necessary documentation.
  • Payment Processing:
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment.
  • Process payments received and update records in the accounting system promptly.
  • Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate billing records and client files, ensuring that all documents are organised and easily accessible.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to billing and collections.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the accounting and finance teams to ensure smooth financial operations and resolve any billing-related issues.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other departments to gather necessary information for accurate billing.
  • System Maintenance:
  • Update and maintain billing software and systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy in billing processes.
  • Assist in the implementation of new billing procedures and technologies as needed.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards in all billing practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in billing and accounts receivable management.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in billing, accounts receivable, or a similar role, preferably within a public accounting or professional services firm.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
