Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a talented Sommelier for a luxury property in Africa, renowned for delivering top-tier guest experiences and offering an unforgettable safari backdrop. This is your chance to bring your wine expertise to the heart of Africa’s wilderness, creating memorable, bespoke wine moments for guests under star-lit skies!
About the Role:
As a Sommelier, you’ll provide an exceptional wine journey for our guests, from curating exquisite wine pairings to hosting tastings and cellar tours. You’ll be integral to the lodge’s mission of combining luxury and conservation, enriching each guest’s experience through carefully selected wines and expert knowledge. A keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and a passion for personalised service are essential!

Key Responsibilities:

Wine Service & Pairings: Provide tailored wine recommendations during meals, aligning with guest preferences and our chefs' seasonal menus.
Guest Tastings: Host engaging wine tastings that capture the passion and art of wine.
Cellar Management: Oversee stock control, transfers, and careful inventory management for the lodge’s cellars.
Training & Development: Inspire and educate staff on wine service, enhancing the overall guest experience.

What You’ll Need to Join the Team:

Qualifications: Cape Wine Diploma or equivalent sommelier qualification (WSET Level 3 or higher preferred).
Experience: Strong hospitality background, especially in guest-facing roles.
Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel is a must), excellent communication, meticulous attention to detail, and adept at sales.
Attributes: A passion for wine, professionalism, and a flair for creating unforgettable guest experiences.
Other: Valid driver’s licence and work permit for South Africa.
