Job Description
National Business Development Manager- Acquisitions and New Build will oversee development of new builds and property acquisitions from inception to the scheme going live. The role will oversee Golden Lane Housing’s Capital Programme and manage the grant allocations. This is a home based role that will provide national cover.
The role will also involve working with a range of partners and stakeholders and a key aspect of the role will be establishing and maintaining key relationships and partnerships to deliver the business plan. Development strategy is central to the role, and the post holder will play a fundamental part in shaping the direction of business development.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the projects are fully optimised and key risks are well managed. In addition they will need to ensure that properties, land, legal and planning matters are monitored and dealt with satisfactorily throughout the lifetime of all projects utilizing the team as appropriate. The postholder will think strategically in a fast moving and competitive market place, whilst having an eye to the detail to ensure the project remains on track.
The role will be responsible for all aspects of planning and implementing Golden Lane Housing’s Sustainability Strategy on new developments and act as a champion for the development team on this subject. The postholder will also be responsible for health and safety on new developments.
The postholder will lead and manage new build process including planning, procurement, project management and management of external contractors. The role will manage development surveyors.
To be considered for this role we expect that applicants will have the following;
Education/Qualifications
- Good standard of general education to Degree level (or equivalent)
- A relevant professional qualification (e.g. CIH, RICS, RIBA, etc)
- Good understanding and experience in land and property acquisition as well as housing development and construction.
- Experience of appraising sites in order to assess their suitability
- Experience of managing complex schemes and substantial budgets associated with these schemes.
- Experience of building internal and external relationships and strategic partnerships e.g. Land agents, Local Authorities, planners, QS, Architect and Contractor. Internal relationships with Sales, Finance Maintenance, Investment and Neighbourhoods.
- Knowledge of the planning process
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the relevant external environment and the impact on YH.
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge of the legal process and contracts when acquiring land.
- Experience and Knowledge of Planning, Building Regulations and regulatory and legislative requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong mathematical skills
- Good IT skills
- Ability to interpret plans and drawings
- Actively promote value for money and efficiency
- Willing to develop own skills and evidence of personal development
- Appreciation of and commitment to, equality and diversity in all aspects of Golden Lane Housing activities
- Appetite for transformational change
- Ability to write effective and accurate reports and presentations for a range of audiences including customers, design team, contractors and staff
- Able to work as a flexible team member, contributing to a wide range of corporate challenges.
- You must have the ability to work outside normal office hours on an occasional basis including evenings and weekends.
- Respond to occasional out of hours emergency calls
- Full drivers licence valid for the UK
- Operate and travel at a national level
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £55,455.00 per year
