Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our hard-working Security team. As a Security Associate you are responsible for advising personnel on all aspects of security and security policy, including physical, personnel and information security.
This role is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Command’s transformation programme is committed to following the MOD’s framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command’s personnel and Trade Unions.
Job description
- Responsible for conducting audits, surveys and security investigation as well as delivering security education, briefings and advice to personnel. Confidentiality is critical in this role.
- Delivering security advice to individuals, attending meetings with small groups, or briefing large groups of personnel at a time.
- Conduct investigations into security incidents, breaches of policy and produce detailed security investigation reports for commanding officers and relevant agencies.
- Ensure surveys and inspections are carried out in accordance with policy and a knowledge of risk management would be preferable. The successful candidate will be provided security training and occasional travel will be required.
- Covering the Duty Investigator, out of hours, on-call, role when rostered to do so.

Person specification
Essential criteria:
- A working Knowledge of Windows Office applications. Word, Spreadsheets, Outlook and Share Point
- Ability and strength in confidentiality and discretion.
- Presentation Experience
- Completion of the Defence Physical Security Practitioner if not already held must be obtained within 12 months of taking up post.
- Have an awareness of the security threats faced by the MOD and the security measures used to counter the threat.
- An awareness of the specialisms that make up the Government Security Framework.
- Previous experience of working within a Security Role
- Knowledge of Security risk management principles.

- All successful candidates will be eligible to join the Civil Service Pension Scheme with an average employer contribution of 28.97%.
