EOI - Debt Recovery Officer

The aim of this role is to:
- Review claims paid under the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme to identity the party or parties responsible for the claim, and legislatively liable to pay QBCC the claims debt.
- Audit claims for adherence with relevant policies, procedures, and requirements to determine the prospects of recovery.
- Through reviews and audits of dispute resolution and claims processes undertaken, identify policy and procedural issues impacting the ability to recover claim debt, and make recommendations for improvement and change to reduce risk to the Insurance Fund.
- Provisioning of doubtful claim debts, and write-offs of irrecoverable claim debts.
- Draft Deeds of Settlement and monitor compliance with payment arrangements.
- Where a debt cannot be recovered through internal processes, and it is appropriate to recover the debt, instruct lawyers to seek recovery of the debt through litigation or insolvency action, and represent QBCC at settlement conferences, meditations, and other forms of alternate dispute resolution.
- Lodge proofs of debt in relation to claim debts, and on request for other debts owed to QBCC, and provide information, support, and advice to insolvency practitioners in relation to QBCC debts.
- Provide advice and education on claims recovery enquiries and issues to other business units of the QBCC.

- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in contemporary debt recovery processes and procedures, including litigation.
- Use effective communication (including managing the expectations of internal and external customers), negotiation, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Interpret apply and provide advice on and implement legislation and policies.
- Identify, collect, analyse, and interpret information.
