About the role
The Animal Attendant provides operational support to the educational programs within the - Veterinary and Applied Science Centre Business Unit.
To be successful you will need:

• Demonstrated ability to maintain animal facilities and apply large and small animal husbandry practice to a variety of animal species.
• Ability to organise information, equipment and learning materials with an animal facility focus to meet the demands of clients and colleagues.
• Must be physically able to perform the manual handling tasks required of this position.
• Understand and follow workplace safety initiatives, identify hazards and contribute to a safe working environment specific to an animal husbandry facility.
• Experience in the direction and supervision of small groups in an animal husbandry environment.
• Availability for out-of-hours and weekend work.
• Experience with laboratory animals, domestic animals, native fauna species or livestock is an advantage.
• Current driver's licence
• Post-secondary qualification in the animal sciences areas.

• The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).
