Indirect Tax Specialist

As the Global Indirect Tax Specialist, you will be part of a team of 7 Group Tax members based in Eindhoven, as well as a part of the global tax community at DLL. Your primary focus will be providing indirect tax advice to DLL business members. This typically includes advising on transactions with cross-border elements, new products, corporate restructuring and acquisitions, and relevant changes in VAT legislation. Tax laws and practices regarding leasing are not harmonized even within the EU, meaning that you will see new challenges every week. As part of the Group Tax team, you will act as the second line of defense, helping to ensure that DLL is tax compliant.

Day to day:
- Act as the first point of contact for the global business community regarding indirect taxes, and where required help them to ensure that transactions are structured in a compliant way. For cross-border transactions, you will provide sign off on behalf of Group Tax.
- Support countries during tax audits and with any VAT-related litigation.
- Provide tax advice regarding new DLL products and international transactions.
- Review the indirect tax balances of DLL globally each month and contact colleagues in the relevant countries if you see any unexpected balances.
- Perform the four-eye review of the Dutch VAT return and pro-rata or partial exemption calculation.
- Provide indirect tax training to various parts of the business, especially sales and finance members.
- Participate in monthly DLL VAT calls with the VAT community at DLL (currently 4 members based in Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands).
- Act as the primary point of contact for all indirect tax issues for DLL countries.
- Act as the first point of contact for the Dutch tax authorities on indirect tax matters.
- Keep our shareholder Rabobank informed on any VAT developments at DLL as part of regular catch ups.
- Monitor developments in indirect tax legislation and proactively inform stakeholders of any relevant changes.
- Come up with ideas for tax process improvements.
- On an ad hoc basis, review VAT compliance processes in DLL countries.
- Where the expertise is not available in house, consult with external tax advisers to resolve indirect tax questions.
- Participate in projects as part of a multidisciplinary team, for example with Rabobank, Finance, legal, sales and IT teams.
- Act as back-up for the Tax Technology Specialist regarding indirect tax functionality in DLL finance and billing systems.
- Two working days per year volunteering for a local charity.

Essentials:
- 5-10 years of experience as an indirect tax manager or specialist, preferably in an advisory role.
- Good written and spoken English language skills.
- In-depth knowledge of VAT legislation and practices, as well as some knowledge of other indirect taxes such as Customs and Insurance premium tax.
- A tax qualification, for example a master’s degree or equivalent in Tax Law or Tax Economics.
- Good networker with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- We are looking for a team player who takes a proactive and independent approach to their work, for example by arranging meetings to align with stakeholders.
- DLL Group Tax members work at least two to three days a week from the Eindhoven head office.
- Financial services experience
- Experience with finance systems and technology such as Oracle and Alteryx
- Dutch language skills would be an advantage
