Coordinator: Unit for Student Governance

- Supporting the Tygerberg Students' Representative Council (TSRC), Tygerberg Postgraduate Students' Representative Council (TPSRC), Societies Council, Academic Affairs Council, Student Parliament and election convenors in executing their duties under the Student Constitution;
- Coordinating leadership development training opportunities for the TSRC, TPSRC, Societies Council, Academic Affairs Council, Student Parliament and election convenors;
- Creating, with the support of the Unit Manager and in collaboration with student leaders and the relevant departments at the faculty, frameworks and guidelines for feedback engagement processes (including TSRC evaluation panels) to ensure accountability on agreed deliverables within the student governance space;
- Aligning TSRC programming with SRC programming at the Stellenbosch campus to ensure intercampus student governance collaboration.
- Coordinating, in collaboration with the Manager: Unit for Student Governance and the Manager: Unit for Experiential Learning Manager, the implementation of co-curriculum programmes at the Tygerberg campus.
- TSRC and TPSRC camps;
- Annual intercampus student governance engagement opportunities,TSRC honorary colours ceremony and other ceremonies, as requested;
- TSRC/TPSRC training and handover sessions; and;
- TSRC inauguration ceremony.
General office management
- Coordinating the TSRC/TPSRC Office and handling general enquiries and referrals;
- Coordinating the assets management of the Office, general maintenance and supplies;
- Coordinating network registration and access card activation for new TSRC/TPSRC members.
- Loading all payments on the Student Governance cost centre at Tygerberg;
- Ensuring that all student societies at the Tygerberg campus have their own cost centres as required by the Student Constitution; and
- Providing financial management training and support to all treasurers of societies by complying with SU financial protocols to ensure effective cost centre management.
Ondersteuning aan studenteleierskap
- Ondersteun die Tygerberg Studenteraad (TSR), Tygerberg Nagraadsestudenteraad (TNSR), Verenigingsraad, Akademiesebelangeraad, Studenteparlement en verkiesingsameroepers in die uitvoering van hulle pligte ingevolge die Studentegrondwet;
- Koördineer opleidingsgeleenthede vir leierskapontwikkeling vir die TSR, TNSR, Verenigingsraad, Akademiesebelangeraad, Studenteparlement en verkiesingsameroepers;
- Skep, met die ondersteuning van die Eenheidshoof en in samewerking met studenteleiers en die tersaaklike departemente aan die Fakulteit, raamwerke en riglyne vir terugvoering-skakelingsprosesse (onder meer TSR-evalueringspanele) om verantwoordbaarheid oor ooreengekome doelstellings binne die studenteregeringsruimte te verseker;
- Belyn TSR-programopstelling met SR-programopstelling op die Stellenbosch-kampus om interkampus-samewerking op studenteregeringsvlak te verseker;
- Koördineer, in samewerking met die Bestuurder: Eenheid vir Studenteregering en die Bestuurder: Eenheid vir Ervaringgerigte Leer, die implementering van kokurrikulumprogramme op die Tygerberg-kampus.
- TSR- en TNSR-kampe;
- Jaarlikse geleenthede vir interkampus-skakeling op studenteregeringsvlak, erekleure geleentheid en ander seremonies, soos versoek;
- Opleidings- en oorhandiging sessies vir die TSR/TNSR; en
- TSR-inhuldigingsgeleentheid.
Algemene kantooradministrasie
- Koördineer die TSR/TNSR Kantoor en hanteer algemene navrae en verwysings;
- Koördineer die batebestuur, algemene instandhouding en voorrade van die Kantoor;
- Koördineer netwerkregistrasie en toegangskaart-aktivering vir nuwe TSR/TNSR-lede.
- Alle betalings op die Studenteregering-kostepunt by Tygerberg te laai;
- Verseker dat alle studenteverenigings op die Tygerberg-kampus hulle eie kostepunte het soos in die Studentegrondwet vereis; en
- Verskaf finansiëlebestuursopleiding en -steun aan alle tesouriers van verenigings deur die US se finansiële protokolle na te kom, ten einde kostepunte doeltreffend te bestuur.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes The incumbent must present proof of the following as an absolute minimum:
- A relevant university degree;
- Two years' experience in and in-depth understanding of a higher education (HE) environment, or at least two years' work experience in a position similar to this one in an HE environment;
- The ability to slot directly into and comply with processes of student management regarding SU policies and protocols within the Division of Student Affairs;
- The ability to engage with a variety of internal staff and students to ensure effective student leadership development and support;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including delivery of accurate Student Governance administrative reports according to deadlines;
- The ability to function as a proactive member of a larger team across campuses and to handle conflict fittingly.
Die posbekleër moet bewys toon van die volgende as absolute minimum vereistes:
- 'n Toepaslike universiteitsgraad;
- Twee jaar se ervaring in en 'n grondige begrip van 'n hoëronderwys- (HO-) omgewing, of minstens twee jaar se werkservaring in 'n HO-omgewing in 'n pos soortgelyk aan hierdie een;
- Die vermoë om direk in te skakel by studentebestuursprosesse wat US-beleide en -protokolle binne die Afdeling Studentesake betref, en om dit na te kom;
- Die vermoë om met 'n verskeidenheid interne personeellede en studente om te gaan om doeltreffende studenteleierskapontwikkeling en -ondersteuning te verseker;
- Uitnemende mondelinge en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede, onder meer om akkurate administratiewe verslae oor Studenteregering betyds te lewer;
- Die vermoë om as proaktiewe lid van 'n groter span oor kampusse heen te funksioneer en geskille gepas te hanteer.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- An understanding of the HE landscape in the South African context;
- An understanding of student leadership development and governance in HE in South Africa;
- Relevant experience of facilitating leadership development and training for positional student leaders in a student governance space;
- The ability to create an enabling environment for student leaders to co-create and take ownership of student governance policies;
- An established network within national leadership organisations and student governance in the South African HE context;
- A record of participation in student leadership initiatives at a university or other HE institution.

- 'n Gevestigde netwerk in nasionale leierskaporganisasies en studenteregering in die Suid-Afrikaanse HO-konteks;
- 'n Rekord van deelname aan studenteleierskap-inisiatiewe by 'n universiteit of ander HO-instelling.
