An exciting position is now available for an accounts senior to join a leading accountancy firm with fantastic modern offices situated conveniently in central Southampton.
This would be the ideal role for someone who is ACA or ACCA part qualified and who is currently working for a UK based accountancy practice completing general bookkeeping and preparing accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships. The role will allow you to work within a team of similar level peers and have exposure to varied clients.
Moving forward you will have huge opportunity for progression as you gain more experience and complete your exams and move on to a client manager position.
Role Requirements
Responsible for the preparation of accounts for a portfolio of clients including larger sole traders, partnerships and limited companies for manager or director review.
Discuss work required with the manager/director and communicate downwards to junior team members including time frame and budget
Ensure juniors’ work is reviewed thoroughly
Complete all sections of the accounts file and ensure all follow up points identified on review are dealt with
Deal directly with client to clarify outstanding matter
Where applicable, carry out audit duties to include, completing planning documentation so that audits are carried out effectively
Perform the role of the senior representative on site and conduct all relationships with the client in a professional manner
Utilise and plan junior staff effectively and oversee their work standard
Review/finish audit file to the appropriate standard, suitable for manager review
Planning – playing an active part in assisting the manager in audit planning
Field work – carried out with minimal supervision in accordance with the audit planning
Completion – playing an active part in assisting the manager in completing the file
Tax related duties to include corporation Tax computations and submitting the CT600
Reviewing data processed by juniors’ and clear any queries brought upwards
Prepare corporation tax computation for manager/director review
Consider tax planning opportunities
Personal tax - Review data processed by juniors’ and clear any queries brought upwards
Deal directly with the client to obtain missing information or clarify matters
Prepare tax computation for manager/director review
P11ds
Process complex client information
Review P11ds prepared by juniors so that they are suitable for final manager review
Submit signed forms to HMRC
Person Requirements
You will have at least 4 years’ experience in a similar Accounts Senior / Accounts Assistant position, ideally with some exposure to audit, working for a UK firm of accountants.
ACA / ACCA part qualified
Recent experience working for a UK based accountancy practice is essential.
Proficient in the use of various accounting software such as Iris, Quickbooks, Sage 50, XERO, Virtual Cabinet
