Job Posting Details

We are looking for a Technical Officer to develop an interactive data service platform that features a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and Chat GPT-enabled data querying capabilities. This platform will archive and display satellite-derived ocean surface wind data, as well as model-produced tropical cyclone dynamic and thermodynamical structures. The primary focus will be on the Western North Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and enhance the data service platform, incorporating GUI and Chat GPT functionalities;
  • Develop modules tailored for specific applications, such as power generation for offshore wind farms; and
  • Deliver data products to users for research collaborations and commercial applications.
Qualifications:
  • A master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field;
  • Proficiency in GUI design and familiarity with Chat GPT-related tools;
  • Strong software development skills in Python and web-based GUI frameworks;
  • A keen sense of visual aesthetics and design skills;
  • Preferably a minimum of 10 years of work experience, particularly in project management roles under scientific or academic environments related to space science and technology;
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and collaborative skills;
  • Ability to manage project tasks, respond to user requests and maintain effective communication; and
  • Familiarity with satellite data curation and coordination of space-related collaborations (a plus).
(Duration: 2 years)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
