Moving people through the wonders of sports, that is our purpose. We want to make people feel the excitement of sport, the power of community, and the sense of achievement when mastering something new. We offer the widest range of sports and outdoor products in the Netherlands for all levels of proficiency; whether you are buying your very first football shoes, or looking for the most technically advanced gear for your next camping trip.
While we have always excelled at designing products which offer excellent value for money, Decathlon is in a transition to focus less on products and more on the customer that buys them. We need to rely less on our 21 stores for our sales and more on online and omnichannel. To not only push the sale of new products but to offer circular services such as Repair, Buyback and Rental. To win not just in large destination stores on the outskirts of the city, but to be present in city centres.
To drive this transition, we are looking for a Strategic Project Leader who wants to push progress on these strategic objectives. This is exciting ánd challenging because in order to drive change, a lot needs to happen. You’ll join the transformation office and report to the Chief of Staff, the right-hand to the CEO. Can you cut through complexity like a knife through butter? Can you unite multidisciplinary teams behind a compelling vision, from head office staff to team mates in stores? Are you a seasoned project leader who needs no tutorial on project management practices? And do you have the ability to connect to overcome resistance, and the tenaciousness to when Plan A fails come up with Plan B or even Plan C? Read on!
Responsibilities

You identify and prioritize the most significant opportunities for the transition of Decathlon: what will make customers happy but also drive long-term business value?
You take charge of your own projects, leading them from A to Z, and bring together multidisciplinary teams to ensure they are successful
You smoothly involve stakeholders, including at management team level, and strike the right balance between short- and long-term objectives and the weighing of various interests
You work in a highly data-driven manner and use data to support insights
You build effective teams, drive their upskilling and make sure by the completion of your project the work is embedded as the “business as usual” of the organ

What we expect from you

A passion for sports!
You bring a Master’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience as a strategy consultant or a business / proposition developer within a large and rapidly evolving organization. We especially look for professionals who have successfully designed ánd scaled a new proposition or business model.
You combine conceptual super powers and a data-driven mindset with the execution power and enthusiasm needed to get others on board: you can know how to build bridges between professionals with different kinds of expertise
You enjoy contributing to a critical transition for Decathlon, love to improve things, and do not stop when things do not work right away
A background in retail or e-commerce is appreciated but not critical, we value the skillset more
You are proficient in English and Dutch, French is a big plus!
