Safari Head Guide - Luxury Safari Lodge KNP

Position Overview:
My Client: A luxury safari lodge is seeking an experienced and passionate Safari Head Guide to lead the guiding team and deliver exceptional wildlife experiences. This role involves managing daily operations, maintaining high safety standards, and ensuring guests enjoy personalized and memorable interactions with nature. The Head Guide will also drive strategic initiatives within the guiding department, uphold conservation principles, and contribute to the lodge’s broader goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Guest Experience: Provide an exceptional game viewing experience, catering to individual guest preferences and ensuring safety.
Team Leadership: Manage, train, and develop a team of guides to deliver high service standards. Foster teamwork and collaboration.
Operations Management: Oversee equipment maintenance, clear tracks, and maintain tidy, operational vehicles.
Conservation & Communication: Actively support and communicate the lodge’s conservation efforts, contributing to social media and guest education.
Administrative Duties: Handle budget management, maintain relations with reserve representatives, and complete other assigned tasks.

Skills & Experience Required:

Guiding Expertise: Over 8 years of experience in a similar role within luxury lodge settings, with prior management responsibilities.
Qualifications: NQF4 professional trails guide, valid DEAT registration, First Aid, and Advanced Rifle Handling certifications. Facilitator and Assessor qualifications are advantageous.
Technical Skills: 4x4 driving, fire management, and knowledge in areas such as botany, birding, and photography.
Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to work under varying conditions.
Passion for Wildlife: A deep enthusiasm for sharing knowledge about wildlife and conservation.
